FISD names new Police Chief

Statement from FISD announcing Jason Saunders as the next police chief for Forney ISD

Forney ISD is proud to announce that Jason Saunders is the next police chief for Forney ISD.

“I am honored to be selected as Chief and grow the department on the foundation we built,” Saunders said. “It is my dream to be able to lead a team of this caliber and continue to provide a safe and secure environment for all of our students and staff.”

The Forney ISD Police Department was established in the spring of 2020. At that time, Saunders was hired as the captain of the department and was instrumental in its formation.

“Chief Saunders has worked tirelessly the last four years to set a solid foundation for our Forney ISD PD,” Superintendent Dr. Justin Terry said. “We are so proud of how far this department has come in such a short time and thankful to our board for prioritizing its growth by committing to place a police officer on every campus. We are excited to watch Chief Saunders lead the department to new heights.”

With over 30 years in law enforcement, Saunders holds a Master Peace Officer license, and joined Forney ISD from the Cy Fair ISD Police Department. Saunders previously served at Spring Valley Village and Woodbranch Police Departments both in Houston. He has experience in various areas including Patrol, Courts, Criminal Investigations, Field Training Officer, Firearms, Special Response Team, Corporal, Sergeant, Patrol Captain, Administrative Captain, and Interim Chief.

“My goal for our department is to provide the highest quality service to the students, staff and community while still maintaining the Forney Family values and culture,” Saunders said.
