City Council March 15 Approves new shopping center

During its regular Mar. 15, 2016 meeting, the Forney City Council met and (this is a preliminary report):

  • Heard Girl Scout Troop 1127 presentation of a proposed community event to be held on April 2, 2016 at c-life church.
  • Skipped the March for Meals Proclamation as no representatives were present.
  • Held a workshop regarding Wynne-Jackson proposed development. This will be 850 - 900 homes on 300 acres between Pecan Ln. and Bederkesa.
  • As a consent item, approved a final plat for Lot 3, Block A, of the Pinson Crossing Addition.
  • Held a public hearing regarding a request for an amendment to the City of Forney Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to amend Section 38 concerning off-street parking and loading requirements in a residential district.
    After considerable public input, the proposed changes were approved, with Mayor Wilson voting nay.
  • Held a public hearing regarding a request for an amendment to the City of Forney Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to define and provide regulations for an approved use of “Farmers Market”.
    After some public input, approved the amendment.
  • Moving this item, the Mayor allowed the Mayor-elect of Forney to present a cooperative agreement with the City of Terrell for a wastewater distribution and collection system.
    Mr. Daniels said the item would be placed on the April 5 meeting.
  • Did not view a presentation of the annual audit by Pattillo, Brown & Hill.
    Tabled consideration of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the City of Forney.
  • Tabled consideration of a site plan for the Shoppes at Forney Crossing, located south of F.M. 688 and the railroad and west of S. F.M. 548.
  • Skipped consideration of a preliminary plat for Lucky Three Forney Crossing, LLC, Lot 1, Block 1, located south of F.M. 688 and the railroad and west of S. F.M. 548.
  • Approved a Contract with the Kaufman County Election Officer for election services for the May 7, 2016, General Election.
  • Approved alternative exterior construction materials for a new residential structure on Lot 2 of the Shands Meadow final plat.
  • Approved a letter of support for a Fire Department SAFER grant.
  • Approved initiating the process for the removal of a section of Bois D Arc Street from the TXDOT roadway system.
  • Approved the Advance Funding Agreement for Voluntary Maintenance by a Local Government (On-System) for the maintenance of flags, flag poles, bases, lights, bridge name sign and bridge name sign lighting on US 80 at Forney Parkway and authorize the Mayor to sign said agreement.
  • Held a 44-minute executive session, then:
  • Un-tabled consideration of a site plan for the Shoppes at Forney Crossing, located south of F.M. 688 and the railroad and west of S. F.M. 548, then approved it.
  • Approved a preliminary plat for Lucky Three Forney Crossing, LLC, Lot 1, Block 1, located south of F.M. 688 and the railroad and west of S. F.M. 548.
  • Adjourned at 10pm.
