HOZ ARB considers request for Reagin House

During its regular Jan. 06, 2021 meeting, the Forney HOZ Architecture Review Board met to consider changes to 315 S. Bois d'Arc (Reagin House).

  • Held Public Hearing -
    • Approved a request for a certificate of appropriateness, in accordance with the Historic Overlay Zone district regulations, for exterior changes to the property at 315 S. Bois D’Arc.
Mr. Morgan, as acting chair, said Reagin House changes are: repaint (keeping current colors, blue and ivory), monument sign 5'4" which is shorter than the 8 ft. allowed, remove two large trees on recommendation of an arborist.
Mr. Scott Gray said they have been downtown 13 years in building owned by Eric Davis, they purchased 315 building from Mr. Bell in November.  Need some changes to provide professional image for lawyer's office.  This has fewer problems than the previous remodel of old bank building.  They prefer to be downtown vs. on the highway.  They want to maintain as much of the building integrity as possible; will be completely painted inside and out. The cedar tree has been filled with concrete, likely to fall on fence w/ FISD.  The pecan tree is likely dead, and could damage the building.  They want a sign similar to the FISD sign next door, some faux stone and stucco and backlighting, similar to FISD admin building lettering.
          There was no public input.
Where will the sign be located?  Near the old church, behind the fence, not near the driveway.

  • Adjourned at 1820.
